Spectacle lenses

The cornea is an uneven shape, and it bends the light in different directions. ... Glasses correct vision because they allow the eye to focus light in the right spot on the retina — the spot that produces the clearest image.

Types of spectacle lens material

CR-39 is a plastic monomer commonly used in the manufacture of eyeglass lenses Polycarbonate lenses are made of a type of plastic that is more impact-resistant than standard plastic lenses. Polycarbonate lenses are also much thinner and lighter in weight. Trivex is a relatively new material that is similar to polycarbonate lenses but with higher quality optics, and thus provides a clearer vision, more rigid material so making it a better selection for rimless or drill mount frames, and is just as impact resistant as polycarbonate.

Spectacle lens coatings

Anti-reflective coatings increase light transmission through the lenses to 99.5 percent. They make it easier for you to see, easier for others to see you and it improves the cosmetic appearance of your eyewear. Normal lenses often create glare, reflections, and “ghost images.” That can be eliminated with an anti-reflective coating.

Photochromic lenses darken when exposed to UV rays. The change is caused by photochromic molecules that are found throughout the lens or in a coating on the front of the lens. When the wearer goes outside, the lenses darken. When the wearer goes back inside, the glasses become clear. Because photochromatic lenses are not effective when driving a vehicle sunglasses are recommended.

Polarized Lenses Glare from wet roads, snow, light reflecting off other vehicles/objects, and glare from your own windshield can be annoying and dangerous. To eliminate this glare, we offer polarized lenses. Polarized lenses eliminate almost all glare, reducing eye strain and increasing visibility. Polarized lenses are the most effective way to reduce glare.

Blue-light blocking glasses have filters in their lenses that block or absorb blue light to keep screen time comfortable. Why Choose Blu Lenses? No More Headaches. Reduce Eye Strain & Fatigue. They are special optical lenses which are meant to block harsh blue light emitted from Laptop, Smartphone screens, LED bulbs etc. The lenses are designed to reduce Computer Vision Syndrome, or CVS.

Single Vision Lenses Single vision lenses have the same focal power throughout (top to bottom) and can be used to correct nearsightedness, farsightedness, astigmatism, or a combination of these disorders. Most people who wear glasses before the ages of 35 to 45 have single vision lenses.

Progressive Lenses A recent variation of bifocals and trifocals is the no-line lens or progressive lens. Progressive lenses provide a smooth transition because they do not have a distinct line which separates the focusing powers. Instead, a gradual change in power allows the wearer to focus on objects at all distances. Distant objects are viewed through the upper portion of the lens, while near objects are viewed through the middle or lower portion of the lens.

Bifocal lenses It contains two different prescriptions: an upper section to allow for distance vision and an additional power on the bottom part of the lens to aid in close up focus. The result is vision clarity at both distance and near with one pair of glasses.

Aspheric lens Designed to reduce or eliminate this distortion, creating a wider field of view and better peripheral vision. This wider zone of clear imaging is why expensive camera lenses have aspheric designs. Aspheric plus lenses can be made with much flatter curves, so there is less bulging of the lens from the frame. This gives the eyewear a slimmer, more flattering profile.

    Contact lenses

A contact lens is a thin, curved lens placed on the film of tears that covers the surface of your eye. The lens itself is naturally clear, but is often given the slightest tinge of color to make them easier for wearers to handle. Today’s contact lenses are either hard or soft. contact lenses used for many reasons. Aesthetics and cosmetics are the main motivating factors for people who want to avoid wearing glasses or to change the appearance or color of their eyes. When compared with spectacles, contact lenses typically provide better peripheral vision, and do not collect moisture (from rain, snow, condensation, etc.) or perspiration. This can make them preferable for sports and other outdoor activities. Contact lens wearers can also wear sunglasses, goggles, Additionally, there are conditions such as keratoconus and aniseikonia that are typically corrected better with contact lenses than with glasses.

    Types of contact lenses

Soft contact lenses are made of soft, flexible plastics that allow oxygen to pass through to the cornea. Soft contact lenses may be easier to adjust to and are more comfortable than rigid gas permeable lenses. Newer soft lens materials include silicone-hydrogels to provide more oxygen to your eye while you wear your lenses.

Toric contact lenses are designed to correct astigmatism, which arises when the cornea is curved so that the refraction of the eye is different between the vertical and horizontal planes. People with astigmatism experience blurry vision even when wearing a standard contact lens. Toric contact lenses are designed to correct corneal astigmatism by reshaping the cornea along certain meridians

Daily disposable contact lenses are single-use lenses that are removed and discarded at the end of each day, and a fresh pair of lenses is applied to the eyes the next morning. Daily contact lenses are gaining in popularity among practitioners and consumers for their health and convenience benefits.

Coloured contact lenses allow you to change your eye colour and create a look that's subtle, bold or anywhere in between ,whether you want to enhance your everyday look or rock a crazy design for special occasions.
